We are pleased to announce that we are holding a Business Community Festival, leading up to Christmas, supported by funding from the Big Lottery Fund.
To kick things off, we have four entrepreneurs talking about their inspirational journeys setting up their businesses followed by an ‘Is it for me?’ workshop explaining the steps, the pitfalls and advice on how to do it right and what to think about before embarking on starting a business. These talks are aimed at inspiring ‘would-be entrepreneurs’, particularly those coming out of the army and their partners, to find out whether starting their own business is something they would like to do.
We have been fortunate to have two speakers who have left the army and have set up their own businesses, Jon Morrissey who has set up Jon Morrissey Limited, an HGV Driving Company and Agency, and Tony Knights, of Knights Security Ltd, who provided the security for the Olympics in London. These two talks will take place on Friday November 25th morning and afternoon (click to book)
On Tuesday 29th November (click to book), we are lucky to have two great ladies who have built up creative on-line businesses, Stephanie Murrell, Founder of Funky Little Bugs, custom-made Baby-changing set, an on-line business and Debbie Nicholson, founder of Paperbird Artwork & Souvenirs – Hand made in Bradford, show-casing Bradford and its history and as a creative on-line business.
Wednesday 30th November, the ‘Is it for me’ Workshop (click to book) will be presented by Chris Darlow, WSX Enterprise Project Manager, and will give any ‘would-be entrepreneurs and those wanting to start a business’ a comprehensive outline of what it means to start a business with all the advantages and pitfalls.
The Community Christmas Festival will run on Saturday December 3rd, and will culminate with a Saturday Community Fun Day and Festival with Military Wives Choir singing around the Christmas Tree, mulled wine and mince pies, Father Christmas, Family photo opportunity by the Christmas Tree, Craft Stalls, History of Aldershot Corner and Craft corner and a fabulous Raffle to be called Saturday afternoon with all monies being donated to local charities.
Do come along and join us – it will be a great day with lots of community spirit to get us all ready for Christmas!
